The house
A house with a story
Casa de Nelly has been welcoming travellers in Vereda La Estrella for decades: a tropical garden, a house of white walls and timber, and a door wide open to the stone statues of San Agustín.

Since 1982
One of the original traveller houses
The Frommer’s guide calls it San Agustín’s original backpacker haunt, luring travellers to southern Colombia since 1982. Today it is still a countryside home for travellers, a stroll from town.

That is how the house introduces itself, and how it is meant to feel: arrive, drop your backpack, feel at ease.

The terrace and garden invite conversation; the hammocks and cushion-filled lounges invite silence. There is a guest kitchen, a fireplace, games and swings for younger guests.

The walk
In the countryside, a stroll from town
The house is in Vereda La Estrella, about 1.5 km from the centre: around a 10-minute walk to town and 20 minutes to the Archaeological Park. That is part of the charm — on the way back, the noise stays behind. If you would rather not walk, ask about a taxi.
Nights are calm: quiet hours from 23:00 to 07:00.
